The cable does use silver for a better connection and yes typically you'll want to watch out using cables that are too long. However I've pushed my 12 foot to it's limits and it's worked flawlessly. Don't think you'll run into issues.

For 4K signals we recommend you use a short cable. Very long length of cables may cause a loss of video signal. Try an 8' cable.
