NO
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am an electrical engineer, so I would like to clear things up here. The answer is NOOOOOO. Without a ground wire, the surge protector has no where to direct the excess current surging through the line. Think about it, that excess energy has to go somewhere, usually that somewhere is to earth, via a ground wire. If there's no ground, you would be better served with something like a fuse which will just blow and create a physical break in the path that electricity cannot bridge.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the same situation, and the outlet does read "protected" lit up on it, so i'm guessing it is protected. Hope this helps..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it will not protect from surges. it also will not guarantee anything you plug into it. I suggest using another wall outlet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it won't work, you need a ground path to drive the surge in that direction, in the absense of this it's the same to not having surge protection at all
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Ungrounded plugs are bad news. No and yes to your last two questions.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My recommendation is to update your outlets before use. Grounded outlets are super important for safety of your home and occupants.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I assume you have an older house? Most likely you do, many homes built before the 1980’s have a different type of romex house wire used. It doesn’t have a third wire in it for the ground. To answer your question it should still protect the tv, (or whatever is plugged in) at least to the joule rating that it’s rated for. So actually in your situation it’s actually much safer now since your house is not grounded. I’d put all expensive devices in your home on surge protection, including washing machine and refrigerator which many people forget about when they are the most expensive to replace or fix when zapped
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Since the outlet is not grounded, any equipment plugged into it will also not be grounded and I doubt it will not function properly since it will not allow it (Rocketfish surge protector) to function as a surge protector. A surge protector diverts or shorts any surges/ spikes in electricity to the ground. Since your outlet is not grounded, there is no place for it to divert the excess power to. I would suggest you contact an electrician about fixing that for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will. Many older homes do not have wire that allows for grounding. The service coming in will be grounded, but nothing past that point
