• Cant do it without breaking the ground piece off. Not recommended.

• This has a 3-prong plug. Probably would not want to use in a 2-wire outlet. Also do not believe there is an audio alarm. Has LED lights on to let you know it is working properly; if one of the lights go out the surge protector is not working. The other light lets you know that you are properly grounded.
