It should swing both ways. There are screws to lock it in a certain position, but I have no problem swinging mine either way. There's a screw that locks the frame to the swivel unit and that screw goes in from the back and on the bottom. And when you put the TV on you hang it from the top and then put that screw in, so I don't see how it could be upside down or if it would even matter. I would check the screws in back and loosen some to get it to move and once you get it where you want it re-tightened them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your question is a little confusing as my unit will pivot both left and right and it will also tilt up or down to a certain degree. Facing the TV mount unit, my pivot tighten knob is on the right side of unit. Hope this helps you out in some way.
