I bought a Sony - 50" Class (49-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - Smart - HDTV - and a Rocketfish™ - Full-Motion TV Wall Mount for Most 40" - 60" Flat-Panel TVs - Extends 10.2" - Black. I was told that i would need to use the extend screws that were included to be able to hang the TV on the wall mount brackets but there aren't any that will make the brackets fit straight... are there special additions i need for it to work”

Sometimes if you play with the screws as you install them. Plus don't tighten them until you have them lined up. If all else fails call.
