“The bluetooth adapter appears to shut down after some indeterminate time, and the only way to restart seems to be restarting Windows 7. Using RF-MRBTAD on Windows 7 Dell 8100 Studio computer. New installation. Works fine except for this issue. Have tried setting options in Windows to no avail.”

have you tried going through the various tabs on top (device, settings, PIM, etc) and changing the settings? If so, I'd recommend confirming that you have the latest driver available. If that does not work, I'd suggest re-installing your device.
