No not needed unless you are planning on putting the switch on multiple TVs then all you have to move is the switch itself and purchase another hdmi of course
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes the docking station that comes with the switch does the same thing. This base will allow you to connect it to more than one TV without unhooking docks. I use mine to travel with as I have group games I can play with extended family.
