It will pick up local channels - usually the low numbered cable channels like whatever your local evening news is on plus a few others. If you want to cut the cable bill I suggest Netflix and Hulu - I pay something like $11 for commercial free Hulu and $12 for Ultra HD Netflix. Hulu is good for current cable shows but if all your favorites are on local channels (abc, nbc), then just this and maybe Netflix would be a good choice
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it definitely helps! I get my local channels plus some others. Adding a roku box is helpful too. I've parted ways with my cable company a couple of weeks ago with no regrets!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This product is easy to set up does not take up hardly any space and within 15 minutes this non-technical person was able to get local channels. If you are in an unpopulated area you might not pick up anything, but in big cities it's an easy way to get local stations without paying any extra fees. Also remember when there's bad weather you might not get reception same with cable though.

You hook it up to your TV input (instead of Cable TV) and then go into your settings on the TV and select TV instead of CATV. Then scan and it will find all of your locally broadcast stations within the mileage listed on the box. If you are too far from a local TV tower, you may not get those stations, but I live in Minneapolis/St. Paul and they have several all located on the same broadcast tower just north of the cities. It's great TV and FREE. You will not get many of your favorite cable channels, but if all you want is local - this is a great option.

They only receive free public broadcast signals, example; CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC, etc. Depending upon where you live and the strength of the broadcast signal, you may or may not receive the stations signal. If you live in a more rural area, and don't want to pay a huge cable bill, consider just the basic broadcast package from the cable co. Usually about $8-$15 per month, satellite TV, or one of the internet attachments like Google Chromecast, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, or HuLu. Many of the premium channels like Showtime offer stand alone internet monthly subscriptions. All that being said, cable still offers the easiest bundle of services, but you do pay a premium for the convenance.
