It could work in a wooded area. it all depends if the signal is strong enough to be picked up by the antenna.

I wanted something low tech that could pull a signal, not necessarily amplify one and draining much coveted wattage. It obviously depends on reception. Reception is more line of sight and atmospheric skip, so if you're high up on a mountain- you'll get better reception than perhaps deep down in a valley.
