It's a 2A charger, which is the current output by the original charger when charging the Switch by itself. However, the original charger outputs 2.6A (and, I believe, a higher voltage--necessary, along with the higher current, for powering the HDMI and optional peripherals along with the Switch itself) when you're using the dock, and this one doesn't. When I attach it to the dock, I can sometimes get the Switch to charge, but a message on the screen tells me there's not enough power to make it work with the TV. I saw one review that said it worked with the dock, but I wouldn't count on it. In sum, as a backup/travel charger it's great, esp. if you want it to use it in the car, but it doesn't replace the original adapter (though-it would probably be fine for the Switch Lite).
