“Have a Sony Z9D TV, it includes a subwoofer Out port. Sony pairs it w their wireless sub, but I already have a powered sub which used to hang off an amp. Can I use this wireless solution? Not understanding why a subwoofer Out port wouldn't work w my sub.”

Yes it will work. If you already have a powered sub working then you just move the cable to the rocket fish and it will work wireless
