We are in the process of dropping cable. We are buying a HDTV antenna to get local channels over the air and subscribing to Sling TV for ESPN. We also have subscribed to Hulu and Netflix for movies and shows. And we are still coming out much ceaper than cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use (OTA) over the air for the 4 major networks, their sub channels, PBS, ION, CW and some religious programming. This is free HDTV that for me is as good as cable. Many channels on ROKU are free but some require a subscription. I subscribe to Sling ($20/mo) that gets me ESPN, ESPN2, H, H2, some Disney programming and movie channels like Life Time, TBN, A&E....

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Good choice to go with the Roku, they are excellent chord cutters! I think the Roku website offers what you can and cannot do with each model.I'd take a look at that before you make any concrete decision. However, I know I have used the Roku 3 and 4, both have an app for playing your media off your PC to the Roku with ease. You can also Plug n Play using an external hard drive using that same app while connecting the external Hard Drive to the Roku via the external USB port they have on the 2, 3 and 4. I'm not sure if we can mention specific brand names of apps here, but there are quite a few of them that also act as servers from your PC to the Roku. But the best way to read up on this, is to check out the Roku website. I hope this helps and best of luck!
