Most newer flat screen televisions have speakers facing back. This improves the total sound and has speakers pointing out to you.

A soundbar can provide more immersive sound quality, better bass response, and improved dialogue clarity. When manufacturers add the speakers they are often in the rear of the set (the screen takes up the front real estate), or they point to the side. That means the sound you are getting is being directed away from you, and that’s not helping the overall audio situation. Adding a sound bar allows all the sound to be directed towards the front—at you, the viewer; both the higher range treble and the lower range bass. Having that front-directed audio also can make it easier to hear and understand dialogue. This wireless soundbar is for Roku only TVs, if you don't have a Roku TV you can purchase the Roku Streambar or Roku Streambar Pro. With Roku's Streambars you can automatically lower loud commercials, boost the volume of voices, and optimize the sound for night listening with simple volume modes.
