NO! NO! NO! I refused to give my Credit Card (CC) #, especially since I was not purchasing anything (no HBO, no Netflix, no Amazon, etc.). So I called Roku's well hidden tele support # 888-600-7658. They told me that in order to avoid entering CC info when registering your new Roku device, go to their web site: ===> my.roku.com/signup/nocc ===> (the nocc stands for No Credit Card) When the signup process asks for your CC info, look at the bottom of that web page. There should be a link that says SKIP or Add Later. (I believe that happens after you enter the Roku activation code number to activate the new device). You can then complete the new device activation process without entering your CC info. The above info was on some sketchy notes that I wrote in a hurry when support was walking me thru the device activation process. Hope this helps. - Howie -

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Roku does require you to enter payment information (credit card numbers or PayPal) when you set up your account, but it doesn't charge you anything unless you actually purchase something on your Roku. There are some apps and themes that are not free and will use this payment information. If you're just going to use it to stream your library from your computer to your TV it won't charge your account anything, but yes you will still have to enter the information in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I did not have to enter any credit card info.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No credit card required
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does. you will see a $1 charge on your card and then it goes away. This is only if you want to rent a movie or add a streaming channel that has a monthly charge. I have had this product for a couple of years and only get charged when we rent a movie through M-GO the movie channel for Roku.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You only have to give a credit card if you are buying services; such as Sling, or other pay channels. But it cost nothing for your Netfix, Amazon, Vudu, etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the initial setup on my unit did require a credit card to be entered.
