Customers are saying

Customers value the 3 Streaming Player's ease of use, smooth streaming capabilities, and intuitive remote control. Many appreciate the voice search function and the device's compact size. While some users noted shorter battery life and occasional heat generation, the positive feedback on performance and picture quality outweighs these minor drawbacks.

Bought my 1st Roku from BestBuy a year ago; since then I have graduated to their Roku 3, and I absolutely love it! It is much faster for searching, loading, etc. Plus it has very nice options of voice searching and great sounding ear buds. Since I don't have the 4k Ultra HD TV (yet), this STB works perfectly with any of my Vizio 1080p HDTV sets.

We love the Roku! This is our second one in the house. It is so much more user friendly than our A##le TV. I love the ease of pairing it up and adding channels! Great price for a great product!

    Best Roku To Date

Without question Roku and streaming have saved us hundreds of dollars per month of our Cable bill. This is our 4th Roku and was purchased as an upgrade to our older XD unit - prior to this I purchased the Roku 2 but the remote is dreadful and if not pointed directly at the Roku itself there's no way to change channels and navigate menus. Amazon isn't selling this unit as of now so I picked one up at Best Buy and have to say the improvement is dramatic. First I had dismissed the Roku 3 because I felt the point anywhere remote, voice recognition and ear plugs weren't worth the extra $30 dollars but boy was I mistaken. The Voice command is sensational and spares you from endless navigating and scrolling when you know exactly what you want to watch. Plus the point anywhere is 100% better than the lesser remotes as I found with the Roku 2 that if the remote wasn't aimed directly at the unit it was impossible and frustrating to use. The feel, weight and design of the remote is so significantly advanced over the others that to me this feature is worth the price of admission alone. Where Certainly back lighting would add real value for many people and a larger more ergonomically designed remote would be a plus as well. I like the addition of dedicated buttons for Netflix and Amazon which are the most popular around this household and obviously most every place as well or they wouldn't be there! Lack of back lighting and remote size and shape are minor grips - I'm a huge Roku fan, they were the first and still rated as the best for streaming by respectable sites like CNET. Streaming is notably faster and buffering when is does occur takes a nano second, which in part is due to both a new Router and our Internet speed and these are the variables that will be most critical in assessing how your own Roku will perform. The style is sleek and elegant with a small foot print keeping the device as unobtrusive as ever. Set up is effortless, it truly is. Instructions are easy to follow. However set up is remarkably intuitive. Have a paper and pen handy to write down your registration code and you'll need to enter your home network password. Most everything you need is included in the box, the Roku of course, Power Cord, Remote and even two Duracell batteries (a nice touch). You'll need an HDMI cable if that's how your connecting which for me is the only way to go as you get flawless HD and superb Audio from a single cable. This unit works like a charm, and set up again, is effortless. It's obvious to see why CNET reviewed this model not only as the best Roku to date - but the best streaming device, hands down over Amazons Fire and Apple TV. If you haven't cut the ties with your cable company yet or are just looking to cut that bill down to size this Roku should suit you very well indeed. Highest Recommendation

I bought this to replace my older ROKU 2. It is much faster than the old one and offers some simple games to play. The remote acts like a Nintendo Wii controller for the games. It comes with headphones for nighttime viewing. Easy to set up. Easy to use.

I've got the Roku LT and got the Roku 3 for another TV it works great and is easy to use. I really like the voice search feature it works much better than the same feature on phones. If your looking for a easy to use and dependable steaming device this works great.

Although my old Roku 3 still works perfectly, I purchased this updated version for the new dedicated buttons for video streaming services and the new voice search feature, which is pretty cool, though it could use a little tweaking for more natural language-style voice searches. That said, the Roku 3 definitely has all other streaming boxes beat as far as content is concerned, not to mention the large selection of "secret" channels, which makes exploring new content lots of fun. The interface is easy to navigate and visually stays out of the way so I can focus on what I bought the box for in the first place -- content.

I'm happy with my purchase, though the first one I bought would randomly lose network connectivity on a wired connection. I returned it and it's replacement was fine. Performance is zippy and the new voice search feature works well, but I wish it worked everywhere and not just the home menu. Their smartphone app allows you to use a smartphone as a remote control, and is especially handy to use for keyboard input. Roku is still the best streaming device because of its wide selection of channels. Anyone that offers a streaming service always seems to provide Roku support from the start.

The newly, updated Roku 3 is definitely better than the original model of the Roku 3. The voice search is great and the performance seems to be better than the original. I do love the fact they put shortcut buttons on the remote, however, the one thing I dislike about the remote is they didn't put a button for the Sling app. I believe it should have been added, being it is one of the popular apps. Overall, this device is worth the price and an awesome device.

I purchased my Roku after reading reviews and doing extensive research. I loved it so much I decided to buy another one. VERY easy set-up with many channels to choose from. If I didn't need to watch CNN, I could live with just the Roku with no other subscriptions. We subscribe to Sling TV which has been great. It is fast and easy enough for my 4 year old to operate. Give it a try!

I honestly thought it would be bigger. Super small device, very user friendly interface and remote. Love this thing. We got rid of cable and primarily watch Amazon Prime and Netflix, but we can get plenty of other FREE streaming channels. Point anywhere remote, voice search, headphone jack on the remote with volume control - it has everything. Bought one for a friend already. You need to own this product.

Roku 3 Easy Streaming For Anyone

I have been streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime and others for a few years through my Tivo and DVD players wirelessly, and have always had issues with slowness in the menus and startup of these services. I decided to try a Roku 3. I picked the Roku 3 because I liked the idea of plugging headphones into the remote. If not for this the Roku 2 would have been fine for a few dollars less. I really found it easy to setup and add channels that appealed to me. I have found the interface quick and far more stable. I thought it such an improvement; I just purchased a second Roku 3 for another room in my home. My only negative, and this seems to be the way most of the streaming applications are going, is that everything seems geared now toward binge watching. Shows pop up and want to start running when opening Amazon or Netflix my most commonly used services, and when an episode is completed, the next episode wants to start before I can even take a moment to think what I'd like to do or where I'd like to go next. That however does not take away from the ease of use, ease of connectivity or overall enjoyment of the Roku 3.

    ROKU-3 Rocks...!

Our 1st streaming media player was the Roku-3. We purchased the refurbished model and have had no regrets, & we are adding a 2nd ROKU-3 for our bedroom do to our shock of the benefits this < $100 device provides in video content. The enormous supply of free channels that have amazing content. We aren't cord free in regards to cutting the cord, (terminating cable/satellite services) but have switched to a lower package, $50 less/mo. which covers our $13/mo. of new subscriptions via Netflix & Feeln (2)providers of incredible content. In the coming months we will become a cable/satellite free home and add Amazon Prime Video content to our programing allowing for current TV channel programing plus their massive library of video content. The Roku has paid for itself in the 1st 2-months of ownership & we save $37/mo now. Soon to be $84/mo of svgs when we become cord free but retain access to 90%+ of the same programing. Also purchased 2-$15 digital TV antennas which have a 35-mile range & enable reception of our local channels (ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX). Our only regret, not getting the Roku-3 sooner !

This was purchased to replace an old blu-ray player used for streaming Netflix and Hulu. It is super fast and works as designed. It didn't take long to set it up on my wifi. The remote with the built in headphone jack is nice to watch tv late at night and not keep family up. The remote itself can act wonky at times which would be my only real gripe about the Roku 3.

    Excellent cord cutting device

I am in the midst of "cutting the cord" and we began with this device. Chose the Roku3 over the 2 for the remote with voice search capabilities. I didn't get the Roku4 because I don't see the real need in 4k (yet). The Roku is an "always on" device. There is no power button. I've noticed it freeze up a few times which required me to pull the plug. I'm guessing its not able to handle all of the apps that are running in the background. Other than that issue, the apps load quickly and its working just fine. One major reason I chose the Roku is it won't have brand specific recognition. For example: The Apple TV will attempt to only show apple specific apps or available shows. The Google version does the same towards the google products. And same for the Amazon stick. But the Roku will tell me that a certain movie is available (for instance) on 5 apps, 4 cost money, but 1 is free on a different app. Making it less costly overall by not purchasing unneeded items. It was very easy to learn for me, my wife, my 8 year old, and even grandma! If you are planning to cut the cord or just want to make a dumb TV a smart TV, choose the Roku.

The Pros: the device is easy to setup, it operates quickly, and the voice search is useful because it shows results from various streaming apps. If I search for a movie and it is on Netflix, Hulu, and Google Play, it will show me all three results allowing me to choose the service which I am subscribed to. Easy remote control. Google Play access! The Cons: Local media server streaming is terrible. It does not play most files from our DLNA server or Twonky server either. Various apps are useless, such as Facebook. The remote control can't control your TV volume, which means you will always need both remotes. For $100 it's a good device if you do not already have a smart TV or a Playstation/XBox. I'm not one for Apple's proprietary BS, so it's this or a Chromebox.
