• No subscription is needed. Good selection of channels through the Roku TV option. Seamless setup for me with Xfinity/WiFi. Plenty of streaming TV options. Easy setup and good sound!

• Hello Mick, no! There is no subscription required to use Roku, there tons of free content you can watch using the Roku Channel, Tubi, etc. there are apps that require subscriptions but those are separate from Roku such as Netflix, Disney, paramount, etc.
