“I tried hooking it up through my Yamaha Receiver, then from my receiver to the TV. There was no sound. I was told by the salesman at Best Buy that hooking It up into my Receiver was the best way to do it. Am I stuck with just hooking straight into my TV?”

I've never heard that you could plug it in the receiver of a stereo system... pretty sure you have to plug it in the back of the television and you can run the stereo system from the television also.
