I bought the Roku Premiere+ for this exact purpose and it works great! With the Spectrum app, you get all of your subscribed channels just as if you were using a box with no DVR. I move the grandkid's tv around, so it is actually more useful than having the Spectrum box.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same issue with Comcast. I replaced 2 of my cable boxes with the Roku premier. Roku has a beta of Comcast as as channel. I can access my DVR and get all the channels. I do not get their on demand content with the Roku. On secondary TVs it doesnt matter that much. I'm running about 170mps on my internet speed and the streaming is fine. See if Roku has a Spectrum channel and if they do test it. I also downloaded the Comcast app to my phone and use it as a remote control.

Yes, you can stream live TV, but not NBC or CBS for free without a cable (Spectrum, Xfinity, Directv) like package. Since you have Spectrum, there is a Spectrum app/channel, so you can still watch some of your local channels. With the Roku, two per account can stream (on different channels) at the same time. I purchased the cheapest package for Direct Now which is $35 and there’s about 60 channels on it and the channels featured are about five of my local (news) channels. So that is something to take into consideration. CBS News 24/7 is a free streaming channel. ABC, ABC News, PBS Kids, NBC News, Fox News, CW and a channel that is called Local On that shows all of my local news channels. I hope that helps.
