“How is the sound quality when using earphones connected to the remote? Also, will it work with earphones (not wireless) other than those provided? I have JVC over-the-ear style stereo headphones (not wireless) that I prefer to use.”

Keep in mind that audio for private listening uses the same wireless network as other devices in your home, it is possible that traffic to/from other devices on the network can impact the quality of the audio. The headphone jack built into the Roku Voice remote for private listening is a standard 3.5mm auxiliary audio jack and will support wired headphones that use a 3.5mm auxiliary audio jack.
