There is no monthly fee to use the Roku. However,there are monthly fees for subscriptions such as Netflix and Hulu.

No fees! Initial setup will ask for a credit card, but this is for only for Roku web purchases. If you don't want the card info left on their website, just go to the site (via computer) after device setup and delete card info. This has no effect on future Roku device usage.

The stick itself does not have a fee, but any service you access may. Some services are free but you get what you pay for.
