I think this is a question regarding the Roku stick. Not sure if the box in question is a cable box, but the Roku stick plugs into the TVs HDMI port and runs off of WiFi. Picture would be affected by the strength and speed of your WiFi. Hope that helps/answers your question.

Roku is designed to work independent of the cable box, so that is fine. It does need a WiFi connection so it needs to be within that range.
