“I currently have my smart TV(2016 Samsung) connected directly to my router with an Ethernet cable. I watch the tv with the apps directly from my TV. Any benefits to use a Roku player to watch the same apps instead of directly on my tv(picture,sound,etc.)?”

Hello! The Roku Ultra will offer the same general benefits such as streaming your favorite channels but it also offers a few upgrades as well. The remote control on the Roku Ultra has a lost remote finder, which is especially helpful. And also offers a headphone jack on the remote control to allow for private listening. Additionally, this Roku player is our fastest and most powerful player ever, if you're in need of a speedy upgrade. We hope this helps!

It was a floor model and we bought a top of the line ROKU even though we knew the smart TV also had a lot of the apps ROKU does but we liked the ROKU from other devices we had bought and the ease of use of the menu. We had to return the TV because of operating issues (made funny noises, didn't want to start correctly, picture quality wasn't there except in store mode). When we tried to use the ROKU streaming device with this supposedly smart Samsung, the Samsung didn't like the ROKU and everything we tried, the Samsung wouldn't allow the ROKU to operate correctly. I don't recommend buying a ROKU for Samsung TV's unless its an older Samsung. We have an older 37" Samsung that I installed a top of the line ROKU and we love it. We also love our second TCL ROKU 55" series 6 TV. We've also owned other great Samsung TVs, just that the newer smart Samsungs with all the apps don't like competing with ROKU apps. I understand what you're trying to accomplish but if you put out the cash for their best ROKU streaming device, be prepared to return it before the return deadline (which we did)

And LOVE the headset jack on the remote to really enjoy audio when watching a show without disturbing the neighbors or others in my condo. And the TV built in apps are often slow and sluggish and add wear and tear to my expensive TV. You can get the Roku Ultra on sale for $79 frequently, but it is $99. I also have the Apple TV 4K and an Amazon Firestick. Roku is the one I use and give as gifts and get back rave reviews. It has more memory and speed and is designed to do the job! Enjoy your show!
