It will work for that but don't clip it to your laptop screen. Even there it will pick up the sound of keystrokes. Put it as far away from the keyboard as possible. Also, sit toward the front of the classroom to reduce the echo-chamber type sound.

I currently have used this microphone plugged into a USB-C hub that is plugged into and on my 2017 13 inch MacBook Pro with Touchbar for Remote Transcription Services that GA Tech is currently providing me this Fall 2019 semester at Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC) in Clarkston, GA for an Intro to Photography class I am currently taking.
