• Thanks so much for asking, VP! According to page 3 of the installation manual (https://bit.ly/3edRvxR) this model is not designed for use with an extension cord. ^Jecca

• Installation instructions recommends against using extension cords. That said, a high enough capacity should work but you might want o go higher than 1000 watts to be safe - even though the unit is rated at 1000 watts it may occasionally draw more than that.
