Can be installed with external vent. Or recirculating vent. Ours fit the exact spot our old one was in which was a Whirlpool. I assume all manufacturers make the over the stove mictowaves the same size.

Three vent options - top, rear, and recirculating

I removed a 15 y/o GE and this one fit perfectly. Don't know the model I replaced. With the exception of the location of the upper mounting bolt holes, there were no modifications to walls or cabinets required.
