• The microwave comes complete with a charcoal filter, so, no, you do not have to get an additional kit. FYI - GE microwaves do not come with this filter, and it's quite costly to order it. That was final determining factor which made me choose the Samsung over GE.

• The SMH1816S comes packaged with the charcoal filter that helps to filter odors from the air that is recirculated into the room. Replacement filters are available through 800-SAMSUNG. Thank you, Ms. Samsung
