Eco-mode simply turns off the display (time and such) when the microwave is not in use. I don't use Eco-mode, but if I remember correctly, you have to disable Eco-mode each time you use the microwave then set it again once you are finished. Again, I don't use this mode so I could be wrong, but I think I remember having to do this when I was playing with it.
