Thank you for the question. There is no adjustment for the sensitivity of the buttons on the SMH1816S. Please keep in mind that if the buttons were too sensitive the microwave might be turned on unintentionally, which could damage it. That said, if the buttons are not working consistently, I would suggest contacting 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether service is necessary. - Ms. Samsung

It is my opinion that the SMH1816S keypad is a cheap one which does not return a positive click feeling, so that you are unsure if the command has been entered. So most people press hard several times and look at the display.
