• The SMH1816S can be set up to vent outside from the rear or top of the unit, or filtered air can be recirculated into the room from vents located in the front that are concealed from view. I can't tell you whether the SMH1816S would work with your existing vent duct, however. To determine whether the existing cutouts match those for the SMH1816S, it would be necessary to refer to the mounting templates which are packaged with the new microwave. Thank you, Ms. Samsung
