“inability to operate the microwave timer and the microwave simitaneously? When we have the timer on we are unable to activate/use the microwave? Are we doing something wrong or is this how the microwave operates?”

I read elsewhere that you cannot. Thus since I own one I am very disappointed that my contractor chose this model from Best Buy. I hate it.

If you've replaced your stove or range they almost always offer a timer, so we use both the microwave and oven timer together when we need to time more than one item.
