“How does this charger work? Does it need that wire connected to it to work? I thought it was a wireless charger, meaning you can charge the stand thing and disconnect it. Put your phone on it and the stand itself charges the phone. Can someone explain?”

• The charger is wireless as in you won't need to plug your phone into a cable to charged it. Nonetheless the actual chsrgind "stand" needs to be powered on meaning connected with a cable. This is not powered with batteries, hope this clarifies.

• The wire is needed for the charger to work. The red light on the charger tells that the phone charging. It is a bit slow but it gets there.
