Maybe not. The box says, "works with Qi compatible smartphones, including Galaxy Note 10, 10+, S10, Note9, Apple iPhone8, iPhoneX. Then it lasts compatible hones and max charge power. There are a few more Galaxy phones listed, and iPhones, but no LG.

Go into any Bestbuy in the cell phone section . On the counters with the phones or beside the computers on their desk they have various charges out and you can just set your phone on them to see if it works. I had just purchased a Note 10 plus and it worked with the Otterbox case on the phone without any issues.

I charge an iPhone 8 I have from my employer. I don't know about your LG V40.
