• The answer is yes. I wanted the 213 model, but it's been discontinued. Take out 2 philips screws in the front (recessed), unplug the connector, slide it toward you & out it comes. Only takes a couple of minutes. The time consuming thing for me was finding the cover to put over the opening. DA63-08988A is the part #

• I don't have mine hooked up. I am just making ice the old fashioned way using trays and filtered water from my tap.

• Yes - I believe you don't have to use the ice maker but you have to push the "power-freeze-ice maker" button so it won't try to produce ice.

• Hi Michele. The ice maker can't be detached, but you can look for the Samsung RT18M6213SG/AA Refrigerator which is the same design without the ice maker. ^Joan
