If you’re tv is The same brand as your sound bar then sound bar will turn on automatically when you turn on the TV. But if your TV is a different brand than your sound bar then you have to physically turn on your sound bar.

I don't turn it off. Use the Samsung TV remote to control volume and access to Netflix, etc. Still have to use Cable remote to turn on TV & cable box.

No you will have to turn it on each time but if you have a Samsung tv the tv remote will turn it on. I use a Logitech Harmony remote which has programmable activities so one button turns everything on.
