“I see someone answered that this soundbar has night mode, is night mode also basically a sound leveling fearure to keep the volume fairly level so that explosions and such don't get super loud? Also can the sub be turned all the way down?”

Yes that's correct with the night mode option. The sub can't be turned all down in the soundbar control but you can customize it in your Tv with the equalizer option.
