• The sound bar does have a nice remote. However, it does not operate the sub-woofer independently of the sound bar. The remote controls the sound bar, and the sub-woofer responds indirectly to the volume controls of the sound bar--like a wagon hitched to a horse.

• It does come with a remote. It comes with an optical cable to connect if you don't have a Samsung smart connect tv. You can also hook up via HDMI. You do need to plug it into the wall as well as plug into the subwoofer. They connect to each other wireless.
