is this hard to hook up to my samsung plasma TV null

Not hard to hook up, at all....couple of cables.

Actually mated to my samsung tv without me doing anything!

Really easy set up. Took less than 10 minutes.

No, use the optical cable if you can. With the TV on, the jack will be lit up red. If not, use RCA
