• No. The USB is only used the for updates. It will not get sound from the TV.

• Hi Bear226, The USB port on the HW-A430 Soundbar is for playing music directly from a USB thumbstick. As long as you have a HDMI input that is TV ARC, then you will be able to connect it using HDMI. Check to see if you see a red light coming out of the back of your TV. It will be faint, but that is where your optical port would be. ~Samsung Solutions
