• The instructions state to use for short periods of time and remove it. The rack can't remain in the microwave.

• Great question, Toooldschool! According to page 11 of the user manual (https://bit.ly/3Agqbs2) the metal shelf that comes with this model is specially designed to prevent arcing, as long as it is properly placed in the microwave. ^Jecca
