Hi Steve, Stainless steel is an alloy that contains both magnetic and non-magnetic metals, so the degree of magnetism of the final product depends on how much of each substance is included. There are different types of stainless steels for different end purposes. Most stainless steel used for Samsung refrigerators is not magnetic. Thank you for the question, Ms. Samsung
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have this exact refrigerator in the black stainless finish. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the front does work with magnetic objects. The last refrigerator we had was the regular stainless finish and was not magnetic, so I'm guessing its the black stainless that makes the difference.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was wondering this myself after I purchased one! I'm sort of glad it doesn't hold magnets though, it would just clutter-up the beautiful front refer/finish. I believe it doesn't hold magnets because it sports some kind of protective coating on it. I'm still super cautious though, because when my cabinets were opened at the same time as the refrigerator, I would get slight discrepancies/scratch on there face of the refrigerator from the cabinet knobs, I would be able to rub it out somehow though. What I love about the finish is, that it doesn't allow for water stains or fingerprints. I love ours, it's super sweet! Hope this helps...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are various types of stainless steel, all of which are real stainless steel. Due to the atomic make up of the various types, some are magnetic while others are not. Ferritic stainless steel is generally magnetic while austenitic stainless steel is not.
