• I don't think you can easily get to the tray to fill it. That is probably not a good plan.

• Interesting question, George! Yes, if there is ice in the ice bin, the dispenser will function as normal. However, if you do not have a water line connected, make sure to turn the ice maker off to prevent internal damage. ^Jecca
