“I have an alienware computer. It does not appear that I am able to hook the monitor up using the cable that came with it. Will i have to return the monitor? Is there a cable that I may need to purchase? If so, what is it? Thank you.”

The HDMI cable should work just fine. If your alienware computer is old, you might need a DVI adapter. Those you can get anywhere. Hope this helps.
