As far as I am aware, there is no way to get sound to play from the monitor itself as there is no speakers built in to the monitor. I use my MacBook Air connected to the monitor with a cable, even if I watch videos on the monitor itself, the audio still plays from my MacBook. This is the type of monitor that just displays videos, it doesn't actually play audio. Hopefully this helps!
