Thank you for the question. The DMT300 is NSF-certified and is equipped with a Sanitize option which should help to keep the dishwasher clean right along with the dishes as long as it is used regularly. I would suggest following the recommended maintenance routine which is described in the user manual, as well, which involves wiping down the interior and exterior periodically, and occasionally running a cycle with detergent and no dishes, or with vinegar to clean and deodorize the machine if needed. - Ms. Samsung

The drain hose hookup was installed under the unit instead of to the side and into the kitchen drain. One of the service technicians said this may be the problem. We had a plumber install the drain hose from the side into the kitchen drain as the installation manual stated but the unit was already nonfunctioning by then so we never found out if that caused one of the many problems we had with this unit. Our old Kenmore had the drain hookup the same as the Samsung, under the unit and going into the basement, and we never had a problem with odor, nondrying or water left in the unit. So we probably paid a plumber to change the drain hookup for nothing. Hope this helps.
