That's the ice maker system, it will be forever unless you turn it off.

I hear a cube drop every now and then, nothing that causes me to focus on it.......I have normal hearing, nothing bat like though.

Ours pops every now and then but it's suttle and not loud enough to be concerned over. It's normal operation and and excellent refrigerator.

I cannot say I have heard any strange sounds. Only sounds I noticed was ice maker but nothing that has been annoying or strange.

I have not heard any popping noise out of mine and we have had it for almost a month.
