• Somehow it knows when it's full. No problems with making too much ice. And does a great job keeping both types of ice properly stocked.

• Greetings, Yes, the ice maker will stop producing ice when the ice bucket is full. We recommend shifting the ice forward so it will not pile up underneath the bucket. Have a wonderful day. -Kimberly
