Software updates are likely to involve changes to or expansion of the Apps menu and possible integration of the Smart Grid energy management technology when it becomes available, though it's possible there could be changes to other functions, as well. I can't tell you how often these updates might occur, but when they do an icon appears on the main screen to make you aware of it. Thanks for the question! Ms. Samsung
