• You do not have to hook a water line up for the refrigerator and freezer to function properly, however, without a waterline hooked up, you will not be able to use the ice maker or water dispenser. ^Lo

• You do not have to hook it up to water to have refrigerator work. Obviously, the ice maker won't work without water hookup though.
