“Are the crispers and cool select pantry supposed to have an opening when closed, or are they made to be closed tightly? We recently purchased this fridge and had it installed. Upon inspection, I noticed the spaces (about 1/4 in. above the crispers and 1/8 in. above the pantry). In other words, there's enough space so that air can flow into the crispers as well as the pantry. Is this normal or is it a manufacturer's defect?”

It is designed that way for normal air flow. You wouldn't want them to be sealed tight. The air needs to flow freely to keep your food fresh.

Since the RF28HFEDBSR is equipped with Samsung's Twin Cooling Plus, the humidity level throughout the refrigerator is significantly higher than conventional cooling systems which helps to keep produce fresh longer. The flow of air in and out of those compartments is minimized when they're closed, however, enabling the various settings on the pantry drawer, for instance. Thank you for choosing Samsung!
