• It shuts off on its own. It will begin again when the ice gets low.

• I'm so glad you asked, Robert! Currently all Samsung model ice makers are completely automatic. When the built in sensor determines that the ice bucket is full, it will pause ice production automatically. Then, after some ice has been removed, the ice maker will resume production. ^Jecca
